Today, I spoke with my friend Diane in New York, and we have decided to have a fire and ice formal ball in the summer of this year or early spring of next year. We will give the formal on one of the dinner boats in New York either the Spirit of New York or the World Yacht Cruise dinner boat. Everyone will have to wear something with red and white in it. Diane has chosen to wear a formal ball gown that is red with a sweetheart neckline, I am wearing a white beaded dress with bell sleeves. We are paying for the room on the boat so no one has to spend any money except if they want drinks or a photo snapshot of the evening. I also thought it would be nice to give every gentleman a red flower for his lapel and the women a white corsage for their wrists. We hope to have at least 100 people to join us for this dinner cruise but if not, we will be happy with whoever comes.
If anyone has suggestions on making this dinner a more memorable event please feel free to leave me any suggestions you might have, we have run out of ideas.
Thanks

What is a "fire and ice" ball? Sounds cool. Sounds expensive! Is someone wealthy? A dinner cruise for 100 people has to be expensive?
ReplyDeleteIf you tell me more about "fire and ice" maybe I can offer suggestions.
A fire and ice ball is just a formal with a theme to it. My friend Diane and myself are trying to give this formal dinner for some of our friends whom we have not seen since we were in aour twenties. Some have gotten married and had children while others have moved away and now are back in New York to live. Although I am not in New York, it does not take me long to drive there, I can do it in about 7.5 hours which is not bad. So far we have received 200 people who want to come, but the boat only allows for 100. If you have any suggestions please let me know, because we have more people than we can accomodate and more are asking to join us for this event.
ReplyDeleteRent two boats? A bigger boat? Figure expenses for a bigger boat and charge a donation?
ReplyDeleteAsk some of your friends for suggestions?
