New Classes

April 28, 2010

Hello:

I have started my new classes for this semester, and I am not happy with my Anatomy II class. My professor is very difficult to understand because he is from Kenya and has a very thick accent and you have to listen very closely to what he trying to say. Also, there are two classmates who have already gotten under my skin during the first seminar when I was trying to explain myself to the professor and how I felt about the class.

Anyway, I hope all that may read this is doing well in their classes for this semester and I hope that everyone will reach their goals.

Patricia if you read this, I hope to hear from you soon, and I am so happy that we have another class together:)

Goodbye

April 7, 2010

Well, it has finally ended and I will miss everyone that I have gotten to know in these short ten weeks. I think that having to do a blog for this class was an excellent idea, we were able to learn things about one another and get closer and also, I have made a few new friends while reading other blogs.

Well, I don't know if I will continue with this blog, but I will check in to see if anyone else is still writing and maybe I will continue to talk to everyone. I wish you all well and maybe we will meet again in another class.

I wish you all well, and enjoy your education experience!!!

Semester is almost over

March 24, 2010

Well, we are coming down to the last few weeks of this semester, and I am really looking for a break from this term. This semester was extremely hard for me; my writing class was stressful because I did not learn how to properly write a paper while I was in high school, and even though I had writing last term, it was difficult for me then also. Then I had to do anatomy and physiology and that was worse then writing. The only time I really study anything concerning the body was when I went to school for phlebotomy and that was a crash course. I know that I have to take the second half of anatomy, but I am truly not looking forward to this class again, I don't think that my brain will survive until I graduate next year. I'm really thinking about just throwing in the towel and telling all of those people who told me that I wouldn't be able to finish this course and get my Associates Degree that they were right and just find a job at a local food establishment. Then the fighter in me tells me that I can do it and that by the time I finish this course, I will be a better person for doing so. Well, we will see which of my personalities will win this bet, right now I'm leaning towards the one who says "RUN" and don't look back.

Hope everyone has a wonderful week and a great weekend as well as some beautiful weather, we are looking to reach 75 this weekend. See you in class:)

Spring time

March 17, 2010

I hope that everyone is doing well and that all have had a wonderful week. Here in North Carolina, the weather is starting to get warmer and we are suppose to go up to 73 degrees by Saturday. This is the type of weather that I long for, if I could find a place where the weather did not go above 85 degrees in the summer and 65 degrees in the winter I would move there in a heartbeat. I left New York because of the winters there, you could dig yourself out of a parking spot then go into the house to get warm or get ready for school or work and before you know it, the snow plow has come and plowed you back in. When I moved to North Carolina the first winter here I loved it, my children didn't have to wear a winter coat at all, the coldest it got was around 45 degrees and that is a cake walk compared to 23 - 28 degrees in New York. Although I do miss the spring and summer time in New York, I would rather be here in North Carolina it is more family friendly, and I love the southern hospitality you find here. This summer I plan to go back and visit and ride the circle line and do the dinner cruise, since I decided to cancel my ball until I finish school. Although many of my friends were looking forward to the Fire and Ice Ball, they could understand that I needed to focus on my schooling and then after I graduate we could have the ball as well as a graduation dinner. I think I like that idea even better. I want to thank everyone who gave me suggestions regarding the event and I will take them into consideration when I start to plan the event again. Thank you everyone.

Grades

Good evening everyone:

I'm here at my computer typing away. I just posted to one of my classmates and I also have posted to the discussion board this week (hoping that I did it correctly) and have started on my draft for the unit six project. I am a little disappointed at myself for letting my grades slip by a few points, but I guess if I work hard I can get them to where they were before.

I have decided to stop working on getting my fire and ice ball together until my grades go back to where they were, so this way I can concentrate on one thing at a time. I'm getting ready to go for a walk to clear my head and I hope everyone has a wonderful tomorrow and a great week ahead. See you in seminar.

Ball

Hello,

I know in one of my blogs I mentioned that my friend Diane and myself were planning to have a fire and ice ball. Well we have finally found two places that we would like to have the event, one is in White Plains, New York at the Ritz Carlton Hotel and the other is The Castle in Tarrytown New York. They are both beautiful places to hold the event and each venue is willing to work with our budget.

Since it is a fire and ice ball everyone was going to wear red and white and then I thought about it, when you look at fire there are other colors in the flame such as orange, blue, yellow, red and green so now we are telling everyone to choose a color from the flame so that we all do not look like cookie cutter cut-outs it will look more elegant if each person has on a different color of the flame or just the color white.

How does that sound to everyone? Please give any feedback that you may have it will be appreciated.

Daughter joins Kaplan

February 26, 2010

Hello everyone:

I know that I have not posted recently, but my daughter has just joined Kaplan to finish her degree in Paralegal studies and I have been trying to help her get adjusted with the discussion boards and the syllabus for her classes. Right now, she seems to enjoy them, but this is just her first week of class we will see how she feels after the first semester.

One of her professors has told her that because she can speak and write six different languages she would be an asset to any firm who hired her.

Well, I need to get started on my work for school, so I will speak with everyone later.

Fire and Ice

February 15, 2010

Today, I spoke with my friend Diane in New York, and we have decided to have a fire and ice formal ball in the summer of this year or early spring of next year. We will give the formal on one of the dinner boats in New York either the Spirit of New York or the World Yacht Cruise dinner boat. Everyone will have to wear something with red and white in it. Diane has chosen to wear a formal ball gown that is red with a sweetheart neckline, I am wearing a white beaded dress with bell sleeves. We are paying for the room on the boat so no one has to spend any money except if they want drinks or a photo snapshot of the evening. I also thought it would be nice to give every gentleman a red flower for his lapel and the women a white corsage for their wrists. We hope to have at least 100 people to join us for this dinner cruise but if not, we will be happy with whoever comes.

If anyone has suggestions on making this dinner a more memorable event please feel free to leave me any suggestions you might have, we have run out of ideas.

Thanks

Cruise

February 12, 2010

Today I spoke with my best friend from New York and we have decided to plan a cruise for next summer. She wants to go to the Bahamas or Bermuda, and I want to go back to Hawaii, so we have decided to find a cruise that can make us both happy.

Being that I love to travel, we can always take a cruise to her place of choice and then in the winter we can fly to Hawaii to get away from the cold weather. I have been to Hawaii twice, once with my mother and some of her friends and a girl that my brother use to date. It was so nice that I didn't want to come home. The water was so blue and the people were very nice where ever you went.

We did a lot of island hopping and we ate everytime we went to a different island. I had tried the poi but it taste like wallpaper paste and it was horrible. The roasted pig was delicious and the pineapple was mouth watering. We went to the pineapple factory and I ate so much there that my mouth was raw, but that didn't stop me (guess I was a pig or glutton for punishment).

My best friend has never been to Hawaii and I have never been to the two places she wants to go to. Basically, she hasn't really been anywhere, I have been to California with my mom, brother, his friend, and two of my mom's friends and we had a ball. We went to Disneyland and my mom was chased by the three little pigs and I was chased by the wolf. I miss her and sometimes I remember all of the fun we had when she was alive. I still have the tickets that we had bought for our next two trips. One was to Singapore and the other was Florida, I can't seem to throw them away, I know that they are not any good, but it's like a still have a piece of her with me of all the good times we had and were going to have until she died suddenly.

I guess that's why I do so much with my two children because you never know when you or one of them may be taken away and then it's to late to say I wish I had.....

I hope everyone has a pleasant weekend, we are about to get more snow so I guess I will be inside this weekend, hope to hear from everyone soon.

Trying to make this experience a good one

February 11, 2010

It is 2:52 in the morning and I am at my computer blogging for my comp II class. I am hoping that this will get easier as time goes on, because right now I feel very uneasy talking about myself and the things that I do. It seems as though my life is not very interesting, and no one would care to know what I am doing throughout my day.

It is very cold here in North Carolina and the snow has finally melted away. I called my friends in New York and they received 14 inches of snow on Wednesday. I long for those days again, when we could go outside and have snowball fights, make snowmen and then go back inside and have hot cocoa. When it snows here everyone stays inside and waits for the snow to melt.

I also miss going into Manhattan and just walking around when it snows or taking a horse and carriage ride around Central Park and watch the people on the street. We use to go to Rockerfeller Center and watch the skaters while we had hot cocoa and kabobs from vendors on the street (I know that sounds disgusting, but it was fun), and just watching the people on the street was fun because you never know what you were going to see. I miss New York this time of year.

Hope everyone has a pleasant day and a wonderful weekend.

Blue Monday

February 8, 2010

Monday's are not my favorite day of the week. No one wants to get up and go to school and I hate that the weather is cold and damp. We have had snow for the last few days and expecting more on Tuesday. I miss living in New York where all my friends are at, but I moved here so that my two children could finish school. When we were in New York, I would go horseback ridding on the weekends and in the fall we would go apple picking in Conneticut and then go to the petting zoo across the street. We had more things to do then we do here in Greensboro, and sometimes I think I want to go back to New York until I remember what the rent was that I had to pay. Although my children are older now, my daughter is almost 20yrs old and my son will be 16 on the 25th of this month, I sometimes think maybe after I finish school that I can find me a job that will allow me to travel and have some fun. Well, maybe something interesting will happen to me, and I will feel better about life in general.

Hope all is well with everyone who reads this and have a pleasant week.

I had trouble trying to get my blog loaded onto my school discussion board, and had to have my daughter help me with it. Again I am new to using this type of posting and if anyone has any ideas on how to help me make my blog a more interesting and fun thing to do, please feel free to leave suggestions

New Experience

February 5, 2010

I finally have my blog page set-up for my Kaplan writing comp course, and it was quite simple to do. This is the first time I have ever blogged and I am not sure what I am suppose to do, but I'm sure there will be people who will see this and assist me with this new experience.

I am hoping that this will help to improve my writing skills as I continue to do this for the next ten weeks or so or I just may find this to be more fun and exciting then I think.

Look forward to hearing from my classmates, professor and anyone who would like to join me in my Kaplan experince.
